Travel Insurance

Before the trip

When purchasing a trip, it is important to purchase travel insurance. Cancellation insurance protects you in case you have to cancel your trip for a justified reason, such as illness, accident or job loss.

In case of cancellation, local agencies cannot refund your entire trip because they are themselves involved with hotels, transporters, guides, etc. Therefore, they will apply a refund program that takes into account the proximity of your departure.

  • If you paid with Visa, ask your bank about what your Visa travel insurance covers.

During the trip

Repatriation assistance protects you in the event of an accident or serious illness at your destination. It allows you to receive medical care and, if necessary, repatriates you to your country of origin.

Repatriation assistance also covers other expenses such as lost luggage, flight cancellation or trip interruption.

Tips for choosing travel insurance

When choosing travel insurance, you should consider the following factors:

  • Coverage:  The insurance must cover any expenses you may have in the event of cancellation, accident or illness.
  • Premium:  The price of insurance may vary depending on the coverage it offers.
  • Deductible:  The deductible is the amount you must pay out of pocket before the insurance begins to cover expenses.

Where to buy travel insurance

You can purchase travel insurance through a travel agency, an insurance company or directly online.
